Birthday Card

Here's a card I made for my son's girlfriend.  She's a big shopper, purses, shoes, clothes, etc.  So I thought some of her favorite things would be appropriate.  I used the Formal Occasion cartridge and I embossed with Cuttlebug Happy Birthday.  The flowers behind the shoes and purse are from Forever Young cartridge.  I cut the bottom with some shape scissors and put some little bling on it, then I threw a bow on it just because I thought it needed something else : )

Scrapbook Room

I use to have a Scrapbook Room.  It is a 1 car garage that my husband and I converted to a scrapbook area.  It was great!  My husband made shelves and had special places for my stickers.  I had 3 large tables in there and a small table for the kids to join me, but...  When my older son came home from college he took the guest room.  When my other son came home to visit from college he said he couldn't stay in that room anymore because it was his brother's room.  I felt bad so I decided to give up my scrapbook room.

We have a bonus room in our bedroom, that was originally my daughter's room.  When the older boys went to college she got her own room.  We decided to make that the scrapbook area or what I've come to call my "Creative Area".

My son now has a studio room, our 1 car garage that he loves.  With frig, tv, dvd, and ipod stereo system.  Plus room for his guests...he made out.

Here is what my wonderful husband has managed to do in our bonus room.  He made the shelves and desks himself and we even have room for a table so the little ones can join me. He did a great job!  I think I'll keep him : )

Easter Treat Bags

I'm back.  I finally found some time to get some Cricut action.  I had a lot of things I was supposed to be making...grad cards...bday cards...scrapbooking photos...but instead I decided to make little Easter treat bags  : )

They were fun to make.  I just cut some cardstock with a shape cutter.  Then covered it with pattern paper. Cut the bunny and chick from the Create a Critter cartridge at 3".  (Even though the chick seems to be so much bigger than the bunny???) Then I cut the labels from Once Upon A Princess and stamped it with an Easter greeting. Then filled with candy.  I used my Fastenater for the first time to staple the bag to label.  I thought staples looked worse.  I need to come up with a better way to keep the bag and label together.

Harry Potter Birthday Card

My cousin was having a Harry Potter themed birthday.  I absolutely love Harry Potter and I was excited to try and make a card.

I used Recollections paper for the actual card, and I embossed some cardstock using Fleur De Lis folder.  I used the Paper Doll Dress Up to make Harry and just colored his tie and scarf  (I need better pens so I will take any suggestions.) The little star out of his wand is from the Ultimate Creative Sampler, originally it is Stand and Salute.  I printed the text with a Harry Potter font I downloaded from here . I loved it so much I downloaded a few fonts : )

The birthday party is Sat afternoon, so I hope she likes it!

Monster's Inc BDay Card

Today is my oldest Baby Boy's Birthday!  He turns 23.  I'm so very proud of him. He has grown into such a fine young man and he is a recent grad from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.  He is an aspiring 3D Modeler.  Hence his obsession with Pixar.  I decided to make his birthday card a Pixar based card.

I used the Best of Pixar cartridge and did a little embossing behind Sulley using the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug Folder.  The Boo is also from the same cartridge.  I used Recollections photo adhesive strips to try and give it a 3D effect.
I hope you got my play on words : )  Sulley is a bit intimidating, so he says Boo as to scare you, but he is really looking for Boo who is sneaking a piece of birthday cake ; )

The cake is from Pooh and Friends cartridge and the lettering is from Hello Kitty Greetings.  It took me a while as Sulley and Boo had such small pieces.  Sulley was cut at 5.25" and Boo at 3".

Electric Pie Maker

I have no pictures to post today.  I just wanted to write about my new toy.  I bought an electric pie maker from Amazon the other day.  It was around $25.  I saw one at Williams Sonoma but it was out of my price range, to say the least.  If you saw my Valentine's post you know that my husband is English and has a soft spot for meat pies and I have a super sweet tooth. I thought the pie maker would come in handy to suffice for both, and tonight it was half way there.

I decided to make homemade chicken pot pies.  The recipe seemed easy enough, but it took a while to get use to my new toy.  I used a dough recipe I got off of the web for the crust.  It had sage in it, seemed strange at the time, but it was worth it later.  The filling was chicken, broccoli, potatoes, and carrots.  I was trying to hide the veges from my kids.  Epic fail!

The filling came out pretty good. It only took about 30 mins to make it.  The dough was relatively easy to make, but I barely squeezed 4 mini pies out of it.  I doubled  the recipe the 2nd time but it was really hard to roll. Then the pie cutter had mixed instructions so i wasn't sure which was the top or the bottom as one was smaller than the other.  Logic would say the larger piece would go on the bottom to go all the way up the side, but I found it to be illogical : )

I over stuffed the pies a few times and made a big mess.  I loved the crust but my hubby didn't care for it so I had to change it half way through. My crust recipe that I used the 2nd time had so much crust that I had to make a pie : )  I still had crust leftover after the pie, but not enough for anything.  I must say that the Keylime Pie was awesome!  I didn't take a pic because it wasn't much to look at, but it was really good.  Simple recipe too, sweetened condensed milk, egg yolk, and lime juice. You can see the recipe on my Pinterest.

Weds night I'm going to make mini Keylime Pies for my Bunco group.  I love my new toy!

Party Invites

Since I'm lagging at some new crafts I thought I'd put some more of my favorites that I've done in the past up.  These are a couple of invites from my daughters birthday parties.  If you know me, you know I'm all about theme parties.

My daughters first birthday was of course a princess theme.  She has 5 brothers so they of course dressed up as princes and their girlfriends were Snow White and Belle. The boys did animal balloons and the girls did face painting. We had craft tables where guests made scrapbooking pages using our instant camera to take photos.  We also had crowns to make and frog door holders.  It was fun.  Here's the invite.

I used the Happily Ever After cartridge for the carriage and just used vellum to write the information.  I held it with crown brads. Her picture was underneath the vellum.

Here's a pic of the prince and princess. My husband and I were the Burger King and the Queen of Hearts.
Just have to throw in a pic of the cake, it was awesome.  A co-worker made it for us.  With our own private poem for the "Princess" on it.

Her 3rd birthday party was a Tinkerbell theme.  Here's the invite.

I tried to make it look like Tinkerbell was hiding in the sunflower.  I wrote on the invite using the Cricut Gel glitter pens.  I used glitter paper for Tinkerbell's wings and dress, and little pom poms for her shoes.

I also made some flower cupcakes and put them in Tinkerbell pails to be the table centerpieces. I used marshmallows as the petals and put them in sprinkles for the color.

As usual Daddy got all into the theme as well.  Here is Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.
